So What Wednesday

It's time for So What! Wednesday again.
It's been a couple weeks since I have participated, and it feels good to be back!
Head over to Shannon's blog and you can link up too!

This week I am saying So What! if...

* I quit the gym. I know I have been trying to do this whole, "be super healthy thing" (which is obviously a big fat fail) but there was some confusion with my debit card (I didn't know it was expired...I only use that account for the gym) and after fixing it 3 times, some woman called me and berated me, telling me I was a liar and I never updated my information. Really lady? I'm online right now and can see that it is updated. Eff you. So... I am moving on to bigger and better things. *

* I have the entire week off... the house is a mess, and we are in desperate need of going food shopping... and I have done practically nothing. This is MY vacation. Why should I spend it cleaning. I mean... I know I will eventually, but I am enjoying my time being lazy for now. *

* I waited until Christmas Eve to decorate our tree. If you read my previous post, then it will shine some light on my bah humbug attitude. BUT, I sucked it up and did it. It's a cute little tree. But, I am secretly excited for when we can take it down. I want my living room. *

* I was avoiding checking my to do list for the wedding because I was afraid of all of the shit I had to do. *

* I gave a slight little smirk when I realized I am still on top of my to do list. Heh. This wedding is still my biatch. *

* I am starting to agree with Big A that we need to get a house sooner rather than later. I initially wanted to wait because we have enough going on with the wedding, but after bringing all of our Christmas stuff home... we definitely need more space. *

* I thought I saw someone I used to know at Dunkin's today and I couldn't help but continue to stare... quite obviously... in my side mirror. Probably with a look on disgust on my face. And then I got paranoid that they were following me, so I drove like a crazy person home. I honestly don't know if it was them or not, but I wasn't taking any chances. *

* I went to Dunkin's in my pajamas with bed head and all I did to fix it was put my hood up. And this was the second day in a row that I did that. Aaaand I got the same person both days. She must think I am nuts. *

That's all for today. What are you saying So What! to?

M.I.A

It's been awhile.

Almost a week. I know.

It's been a long week, let me tell you that.

Big A and I were having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit. He took the words right out of my mouth when he said, "you used to be able to feel Christmas in the air. Now it is just a bunch of crazy people talking about all of the money you need to spend and being assholes driving around."

Yeap.

Then Wednesday night we found out that a dear friend of ours has passed away. The first thing everyone thinks of when I say that is it was someone our age who must have died unexpectedly in a car crash. Then you get the "they died so young" speech. After that I feel compelled to tell the story, and it seems that people are a little relieved to find out it wasn't someone in their 20's. Which still hurts because, our friend still died too young.

You see... we have many friends in many different age brackets. I have to say that this is mostly due to Big A and his eclectic group. This was a man that Big A has known for years, and I had the pleasure of meeting him and getting to know him over the past 4 1/2 years. His name was John.

John was an amazing man. I think he was one of the few people who you really got 100%. There was no sugar coating. No lies. No drama. Just 100% John. He was wildly hysterical and the stories he could tell you... well... you would be in tears laughing by the end of them. At 61 years young, he still lived a full, crazy life.

You would hear his stories and say.... "yeap... that sounds like John".

I don't know the whole story of his passing and I won't try to tell a story I don't know. Plus, I believe that John should be remembered for the amazing man that he was, not how his life ended. He had cancer. He told everyone about it last year, on Christmas Eve. He stopped coming around for awhile, but then one day he popped back up again and John was back in full force.

I think that is why it was so shocking to all of us to find out of his passing. We didn't know he was sick again. And just like that he was gone.

It was the first event that had truly affected all of us together. And the next night we all joined together to tell stories of John and reminisce over pictures. There was laughter and there were tears. I'm sure he was up in Heaven wondering what the hell was wrong with us and why we were acting so sad. That was just him.

Big A and I went out for a couple drinks that night he died. We just needed to get out for a little bit and really process all of the news we had heard. Big A was talking about the last time we saw him, just a few weeks before. He said that he wished he had known that it would be the last time...he would have told him to stay for another beer. It reminded me of a poem that my aunt wrote when my grandmother died back in 2004. I don't remember the exact wording, but it kind of went like this: "We are not to know which goodbye will be the last. For we might hold on too tight when the spirit is ready to soar".  I shared this with him and I think it helped a little. It helped with all of the shoulda woulda couldas. It all would have been different if we knew he was leaving us. But, we were to remember John the way we had always known him. Not with sadness or regret.

It was a hard few days, but we all leaned on each other and I think we have all made a little more peace with it. The insanity of Christmas was a distraction. Something to take our minds off the sadness for a bit.

I just didn't know how to write that he was gone. And it seemed fake to write about anything else. I guess today is the first day that I really have had the words, or the strength to say it. Every time I say he is gone, it is just that more real.

It was finally in the paper today, so we were able to find out that his arrangements are on Friday. It is going to be a hard day saying goodbye to him again. But, I would like to think that he is still watching over us. Keeping an eye out for us and reminding us that life is to short and to never take anything for granted. He may have left us too soon, but he definitely lived life to the fullest.

So, here's to John. A man I was honored to be able to know. Someone who has taught me more life lessons then I ever thought. Until we meet again my friend. Keep an eye out for us. You will never be forgotten.

Spoiled Rotten

As you know... yesterday was my most favorite day of the year... my birthday!

This year was a bit different than most. I found myself a little more laid back about everything this year. Maybe it just comes with age. Who knows. I no longer feel the need to go out for my birthday and get hammered (I now hold that for random wine nights heh). I don't need to make a gigantic deal of it all. Just some good times with some good people.

Although... I still keep the "it's my birthday" card in my back pocket in case people step out of line.

Now, let's talk about the awesome people in my life shall we?

(And please excuse the craziness of the pictures. Blogger and I were fighting all morning about their placement and this was the best I could do)

My bosses spoiled me rotten by getting me a gigantic edible arrangement and a bunch of balloons. De-lish!
Flowers from my handsome man.                           An awesome Patriots shirt so I                                                                                  can represent my team
Probably THE most thoughtful gift anyone has EVER given me. A handmade picture frame with a picture of me and my brother when we were little. He broke a bunch of cool plates and designed this himself. I LOVE it!
My card from Big A. He thinks he is soooooo funny!
A scratch ticket from a co-worker. I won $20 on it!

And THE Coolest shoes in the entire world. I can't wait to wear them!!!

I went home last night thinking about how truly blessed I am to have all of these amazing people in my life. It's not just about getting great stuff (which I did, because my presents were effing awesome this year) but also about all of these people care about me so much that they wanted to make my day special. And that means more to me than any gift (although I'm not giving any of them back... sooo...)

It was an amazing day. And then just like that... it was over... almost as quick as it came.
So... another 366 days until the next one.
Except for at the next one... I will be a married woman.
Craziness!

Show Me Christmas: Traditions

First off... let me start off with how excited I am that it is MY BIRTHDAY TODAY!!! YEAH!!! I have already been spoiled rotten and it isn't even noon yet. I will have a fabulous birthday recap post tomorrow!

This week Becky and Aly want to know about traditions. And I'm going to be honest with you. My traditions are all sorts of messed up.

Let me explain....

I had many traditions growing up. How we would spend Christmas Eve all together as a family. We would cook a bunch of yummy appetizers and just all spend time together. We would wake up together the next morning, open presents, and depending on the year... have a nice Christmas lunch! (We switched every other year having Christmas meal at my aunt and uncle's house).

Then we would head out to my aunt and uncle's house. We would all sit in a circle and wait patiently as all of the presents were passed out.

But over time that has changed. And to be honest... Big A and I are still working out our traditions. They have been tweaked a little each year and hopefully one year we will have it down to a science... but probably not! Haha. And since we are all over the place, I'm just going to tell you about how we celebrate Christmas!

We're working on it though. And our new traditions are that much more special because our family is growing (sidenote: not a preggers announcement. I mean we are getting married and gaining more family... didn't want to start any rumors). Our traditions are growing together.

Now...

Christmas Eve is now spent at Big A's parents' house. Our two families have combined and it is a special time where we get to spend time with our parents and siblings all in the same place. Which doesn't happen often. We still make delicious food and probably drink too much wine (no? just me? oops!) and it is even more special because we are all together.

Christmas still gets tricky. Big A and I do our own Christmas. Then each go to our respective parents' house to open presents.

This is when one of my favorite traditions happens. Every year, my dad hides a pair of earrings each for my mom and I in the Christmas tree. Then he tells us which side our earrings are on and we race to find them! Some years my mom wins, some years I win. But it is so much fun. And Pops picks out some killer jewelry. I never used to change my earrings often, but now that I am older, I do every now and then and I have an awesome collection to choose from. Not to mention, I will have these earrings as a forever reminder of my dad and my family on Christmas.

When we are done at our parents' houses. We meet up again and head to my aunt and uncle's house. There we visit with my side of the family. I'm happy that Big A gets to be a part of that with me because my family is very important to me. The past couple years we haven't had time to stay for presents, but at least we get to see everyone.

Then it is off to his aunt and uncle's house to spend time with his family. We ate way too much food (again) and catch up. They do a yankee swap instead of individual gifts since their family is so big. But, it is so much fun to get everyone together and all oooh and aaahh over the presents. Hoping that if you get a good one you can hide it quick enough that everyone forgets about it! Haha.

The most special part about it is that I feel like our families have successfully merged. It makes all of these traditions mean that much more.

I'm looking forward to seeing what traditions we start as a married couple. Or when we start a family. I know they aren't done changing, but I hope that some day we can enjoy some of these traditions with our kiddos.

And that's all for today. My long, sordid story of our crazy, but amazing, Christmas!
Sidenote: This is totally unrelated to Traditions, but I just figured out how to make a Facebook Page for "Down at Fraggle Rock" AND make a button to "like" it. For the technologically challenged. That is a pretty big deal.

My Birthday Weekend: AKA The Weekend I Was Spolied Rotten!

Oh, my goodness. What a LONG weekend. I mean, don't get me wrong. It was amazing. But... let's just say that I'm not 21 anymore and having wild and crazy plans Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday... is a bit much. Needless to say... we passed out pretty early last night.

Let's recap shall we?

Friday night was our Monthly Wine Night. J$ was nice enough to host it this time around and it had a lovely little holiday theme. It was a Ugly Christmas Sweater/Yankee Swap Wine night. We all wore our ugliest Christmas sweaters and the winner of the ugliest got a special prize.

I'm sure I have mentioned before that I am insanely competitive. Almost to a fault. Let's just say that I spent the better part of two weeks creating my masterpiece. And it paid off... I won! A lovely bottle of wine and the bragging rights were all mine. (Although, I did wonder who the hell cares that much about winning an ugly sweater contest. Oy... I may need to re-evaluate my priorities! Haha!)

Then it was time for the Yankee Swap. I ended up picking L's gift and LOVED it. I threatened everyone and told them that they better not take it away from me. Although, for the most part... no one switched their gift, so it worked out.

I then continued to drink WAY too much wine and not eat enough food. We know how that ends... it was a rough Saturday morning. But worth every second. I had an amazing time. (Sidenote: pictures to come, once I have enough time to steal them off of Facebook and maybe edit a few of them... it was a crazy night!)

Saturday was filled with some Christmas shopping with Ma Dukes (and going out to a fabulous lunch that cured my hangover in a heart beat). Once we had had enough, we both went our separate ways.

I went home to rest up for my night our for some BIRTHDAY SHENANIGANS!!! (Did you all forget that my birthday is tomorrow? I planned on being super annoying and reminding you multiple times a day, but... I dunno... life got in the way. Birthday countdown FAIL!) Big A and I went out to dinner with N & J (and Big A spoiled me rotten by paying even though he is taking me out for my real bday dinner on Wednesday!) And then we headed out to a local bar for some drinks.

Big A was there (obviously), N & J, J$ and Ry-dawg, my brosiff, Pagalonious Finch (long story), Mr. C and his brosiff (Mrs. C got called into work... booo), and L made the trek out too. I hope I'm not forgetting anyone! Anywho... I was spoiled rotten. Got fabulous gifts, and didn't have to pay for a drink all night. I have the most amazing friends!

Here's the recap of my loot:

A fabulous faux Coach bag from L and a gorgeous SO soft scarf!

Mrs. C and N got me the cups in the picture on the left. J$ got me the skull cups on the right (plastic so I couldn't break them... hahaha)
I'm pretty sure that this was their way of telling me that I am a bitch and I obviously love drinking too much! Haha. I kid. I kid.

Big A and I rested up on Sunday and then I headed over to my parents' house for a FABULOUS brunch of french toast, poached eggs, and bacon (what diet?). Delish.

Then Big A and I bundled up and headed out to watch the football game. The Patriots must have known that it was my birthday because they beat the tar out of Denver (against all odds). It was an amazing game.

After, we were STARVING... so we did our normal trek to Stop & Shop, purchased a disgusting amount of food, and then we went home and stuffed our faces.

Case in point: (Notice the begging Border Collie)
Jalapeno poppers, Chicken Taquitos, Mozzarella sticks, and Honey BBQ Chidken bites.
MOOOOOO!

And then Big A and I proceeded to pass the eff out. Because... let's face it... we just can't hang like we used to. I'm almost 26... I don't bounce back as quick. Hahahaha.

That completes the weekend that I was spoiled rotten. I'm sooooo excited for my bday tomorrow and then continuing the celebration with a romantic dinner with my number 1 guy on Wednesday. Then it is a straight shot to Christmas! (EEK! I've done almost nothing! Ug).

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend like I did. And that you enjoyed my 8,000 page blog post today. I have some more fun stuff to share, but I think I have gabbed enough and I will save it for another day!

Smooches.

The Boys' Tuxedos

Yesterday, I took a half day and Big A and I set out to pick out the tuxes for the wedding.

Now, please don't think I am crazy. We had a coupon for $40 off each tux and if we had 5 or more rentals, Big A could choose between a free rental or a free suit up to $450 (which turns out is their most expense suit, I thought it was a scam). BUT, it expired on 12/31/11 so we had to go in and leave a deposit in order to get the deal.

AND... I figured I might as well go in and help Big A pick everything out. I mean. I trust him and all, but I know he would come home saying he got something like this:

Whether he actually did or not. And then he would torture me up until the wedding day. Yeah... not happening.

So, we had talked about some ideas before hand, but when we got there I let Big A do the deciding. He asked my opinion and such, but I tried not to be over-bearing. This was his thing. He would be wearing it. Not me.

We decided that we wanted the groomsmen to wear red vests. They color-match to David's Bridal so it was easy to pick. Big A looked at all of the options and picked this one. Along with the tie with the pattern.

Then we decided that Big A would wear a silver vest so that he would stand out. (Ya know... in case anyone was confused who the groom was). And he picked this one. It is the same pattern as the red one (totally coincidental), but he is going to wear the plain tie.

Now for the fun part. Big A really liked the black, pin stripe tuxedos. But, we wanted him to stand out still. So we were going to do him in pinstripe and the rest of the boys in regular black. BUT, then I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have his Best Man in the pinstripe too? But, then still have the red vest. So he will stand out from everyone else, but he kind of connects to both Big A AND the rest of the groomsmen.

Then she asked about our Dad's. I had talked to my dad the night before and suggested that he rent one. I don't know what Big A's dad is going to do, but Big A thought he might. So, we decided to leave it up to them what color vest they wanted to wear. The woman said they usually match it to their "dates" (which we had a good laugh about, because I know she was trying to be all PC, but it was funny to actually have to explain that they were in fact bringing our mothers as their dates... at least we hope so haha!).

So, the boys need to go within the next 30 days (no clue why it is so quick) and get measured and leave a $20 deposit. No bigs. And then they don't have to do anything until close to the wedding. The boys have it SO easy.

Thank goodness that football season is dying down, or I would have had to be like... yeah... that's not happening since the only day they could really all go is on a Sunday.

Aaaaand... that is the story of our tuxes. We had a blast with the two women there and it was nice to get to spend some extra time together. And VERY nice to cross another item off of our to do list.

I know I keep saying this, but each thing we do makes it seem that much more real. EEK. I can't wait!

So What! Wednesday

Ahhh SO What! Wednesday. How I love you.

This week I am saying So What! if...

1. I was up literally all night because the dog was licking himself. Yep, no big deal. It's 3 AM, I'm trying to sleep, and he is giving himself a bath. Ug.

2. I thought about writing that in my So What! Wednesday post at about 4:30 AM.

3. We still haven't bought a Christmas tree yet. Supposedly we are going tonight. Eh. I'm just not feeling the excitement about the tree.

4. I threw a hissy fit until my parents' agreed to let me pick what we have for brunch on Sunday. And then told them I might be too hungover from my birthday festivities to come anyway. And then still did not make a choice. Love you guys.

5. My new license picture makes me look like a drug addict. I was NOT prepared to get my picture taken. AND I can do a new one in 9 months... but I will continue to be embarrassed by my license until then. WAH!

6. I'm normally pretty cost conscience, but I was researching costs for our honeymoon and I think we should go all out. We have never been away for a week together, and we normally just do mini vacas. AND this will probably be the only time we can do this before we have kids and then it will be a million times more money (and stress!). Maybe Big A will agree.

7. I still get a kick out of when I call new vendors for the wedding and they say, "First off, Congratulations! How exciting!" Yes... yes it is exciting.

8. 25 year old me thinks that I should go wild on Saturday night to celebrate my bday. Almost 26 year old me tells me I am NOT 21 anymore and it will NOT feel good the next morning. Ug! Getting old sucks.

9. I am OVERWHELMED with excitement since Jackums is at the doctor as we speak finding out the gender of my her baby! UPDATE: IT'S A GIRL!!!!! i'VE ALREADY STARTED ORDERING ALL THINGS PINK AND PRETTY!!! CONGRATS JACKUMS! SO EXCITED!

That's all I gots Ladies. Head on over to Shannon's blog and link up!

P.S. You want some inside dirt. Beck over at From Mrs to Mama is hosting a giveaway worth $300 worth of amazing stuff. WINNER TAKES ALL. Now, listen carefully. I blog about this so that I can get the extra entries, NOT so you can go enter and ruin my chances of winning. SO... love the information... but don't sign-up. K? Thanks! Smooches.

Show Me Christmas: Decorations

It's the second link-up for "Show Me Christmas". I'm going to participate, regardless of the fact that I am slightly ashamed, embarrassed disappointed with our decorations. It's not that I don't like them, because I do... it's just that we don't have a lot of room to decorate. And until we have a house, there really isn't a point in buying all these decorations that we won't have anywhere to put. Also, as I write this (early because I am trying to be efficient with my time) we don't even have a Christmas tree!!! I don't even know when we are getting one. Hopefully, I will have an update for ya before I actually post this ish.

I will say that we are pretty damn lucky when it comes to decorations. For the  most part, they were all gifts. Big A's aunts are truly amazing people and give us some sort of decoration each year. We usually get them around Thanksgiving time, so it gives us plenty of time to enjoy them before the Christmas season is over. He even has an aunt that gives us each an ornament each year. Yeap... we are pretty lucky people.

So... here you do. Don't judge. Someday, when we have the space, time, and money... I will be a decorating genius. We will all look back on this post and laugh about how little there was and how poorly put together it all was.

1. Our stockings. The one in the middle is for Mr. Fresh. I have been attempting to find him a letter one each year, but the reality of the matter is that they are from the Christmas Tree Shop and those bitches be crazay around X-mas time. I just can't do it. 2. Our Engagement ornament!!! Since we will only be engaged for one Christmas, I really wanted to make sure that we had a special ornament for our (currently non-existent) tree. 3. Our wall boxes. The ones that I begged Big A for week and they are hardly ever filled. I do them at Christmas and sometimes in the Fall. The plan was to do different ones for each season/holiday...eh maybe some day.

4. Winnie the Pooh and Friends! I saw these one year and had to have the whole crew. My mama bought them for me 'cuz she's just the best! 5. Our sleigh and snowmen. Everything you see here are gifts from Big A's aunts. THANKS GUYS! 6. Again, more gifts from the Aunts. They are the only thing that is Christma-fied in the kitchen.

7. This little ditty it new this year. I saw all of these items crazy-on-sale at Michael's... worked a little magic, and you have the beauty that you see here. It looks really pretty on our coffee table. Except for the fact that we use our coffee table for EVERYTHING, so it just gets moved around. 8. We got this wreath right after we moved into our apartment. I hung it up on that hook and then pretty much never took it down. It was the running joke with our friends that by the time I took it down it would be Christmas again. AND... it was. I left it up for last Christmas. And then for fear that it would be up there forever, I packed it away with everything else. I got a bit nostalgic about it when I put it out. Thinking of how far we have come from our first Christmas living together.

Sooo ladies and gentlemen... those are my our Christmas decorations. I hope you enjoyed having a little Christma-fied tour around our apartment.

Now... snap some pictures... and head on over to Becky's blog or Aly's to link up... and SHOW US YOUR CHRISTMAS!!!

Weekend News and Wedding Shoes

This weekend was a pretty low-key one. Which was nice... seeing as how the next two weekends are going to be insanely crazy. Soo... it was nice not to run around like a chicken without a head.

On Saturday I met up with L and her (not so) Little Man and we went shopping. It isn't every four year old's dream to go shopping with two women all day, but he handled it like a champ. Although it may or may not have involved a lot of pretending to be eaten by dinosaurs.

L was under strict instructions not to let me buy anything. I had no money. (Not that it ever stopped me) However, when I told her this, I completely forgot that we were planning on heading to "Shoes to Dye For" to check out some wedding shoe possibilities.

We walk in and I immediately gravitate towards these shoes:

Because as we all know... I have expensive taste. It isn't my fault. It is just what catches my eye. These were $399. L said no before the word came out of my mouth. (At least I know that if I somehow managed to be high enough to think I could afford $400 shoes, she would have stopped me. However, I am not high and therefore rational when it comes to show purchases).

Then I found these babies:
These are crazy close to the Steve Madden shoes that I fell in love with from Pink Lou Lou's blog. (I couldn't find the actual post, but I wanted to give her credit with my obsession). When I found these... I knew they were perfect. They were satin. Without a huge heel. And rhinestones (also please note that the rhinestones go all the way down the heel too). Check, check, and check.

And to make things better... they are coordinated with David's Bridal, so they are going to be able to color match them exactly to the color of the bridesmaid dresses. Plus, they were actually pretty comfortable. I walked around the store for awhile to make sure they were just comfortable at first and then deadly.

So that is the story of how I found my wedding shoes. Done! They said it would be 7-12 days before they were in. I'm DYING to see them. EEK! I can't wait to wear them, I think the red is going to look killer with my dress. And the girls are all wearing black shoes so mine would stand out (ya know... in case anyone got confused who the person in the wedding dress was).

Also, I ordered our Save the Dates yesterday. They probably won't be here until the end of the month, but I am still super excited about them. They don't have skulls on them. And they aren't magnets (like I had originally wanted) but, I love them all the same. So I'm glad I have those crossed off my list too.

AND we are going to pick out the tuxes on Wednesday, since our cool little coupon expires at the end of the month. I'm feeling quite accomplished. (Slowly watching our savings account disappear... but accomplished).

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and that your Mondays don't suck so bad.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I meant to post earlier. I really did.

I'm sure you assumed that this must mean that I am super busy at work today. Ya know, the kind of super busy when the day flies by and you feel like you have done a job well done?

Nope. I really just got lost in the nonthingness of today.

No one is here. I've been sitting by myself since 8:00 AM.

Sometimes the maintenance guy comes in and says hi to me. I think he feels bad that I am by myself all the time. Whatever.

I've been lost in the internet world today. Finding & reading random blogs that I've never seen before. That's how I found some of the great blogs that I love.

Except, sometimes I wish I didn't have all of this time to surf the blog world.

Sometimes I wish I was busy at work all day long. It doesn't do much for your self-esteem when you think a monkey can do your job. Honestly. Most days my phone doesn't even ring. Maybe I will just start working from home and see if anyone notices.

My guess is that it will be awhile before anyone really does.

I know. Such a bummer post. But, it stinks. I miss actually doing something with my days. I miss feeling like I am a valued member of society. I'm pretty sure that answering a single phone call (on someone else's line) and creating a pivot table in excel, do not qualify for valued members of society.

Boo.

Oh wait... hold on... I just uploaded an invoice. Oy. Job well done.

Ug. I can't wait to get out of this joint and have it be the weekend. The weekend always makes me feel important. I mean... who would keep Starbucks open if I didn't go there every Saturday. Who would my mom meet for mother-daughter time? Who would keep the small business open by spending all of their money? Hmm...?

Exactly. The weekends are lucky to have me.

I had another post in mind about Save the Dates and such. But, to be honest, my heart just isn't really in it today. I'm currently have a gigantic pity part for myself, soooo feeling all lovey dovey and planning a wedding is kind of last on my list.

Maybe I should put myself to really good use and research low calorie drink options for the weekend. I'm bound to wake up with a hangover one of these days. Might as well watch my waist line while I do it. Right?

Alright, I'm annoying myself with my Debbie Downer attotude, so I am going to go back to trying not to drool on my desk during my nap. I hope you all are having a fabulous Friday. Counting down the minutes until freedom. I know I am. (89!!!)

Adios Beetches!

9 Months to Go!!!

Does anyone know what today is?

Anyone?

Today... we hit the 9 month mark.

Nine months until our wedding. That sentence alone both excites and terrifies me. EEK!

I can't believe that these months are flying by. It seems like only yesterday, it was New Year's Eve and Big A and I were talking about how this would be our year.

And now it is almost time for New Year's again. Straight craziness.

I'm so excited for the wedding to be here. I just can't wait! On the other hand though, we have a bagillion more things that we need to do and some crazy money that we need to pull out of our cabooses to pull this off.

I got a call yesterday that the Prego Megos' dresses are in. That's so exciting. When something like that happens... like my dress came in, we took our Engagement pics, their dresses come in... etc. etc. it feels a little more real each and every time.

I can't wait for the rest of the Bridesmaids to get their dresses in January.

It is still crazy to think that I am planning MY wedding.

I showed Big A the Save the Dates that I picked out. I know he was absolutely so excited to see them. Haha.... or not really. He just said, "cool". I showed him the wedding website that I have been slaving over (OK not really, but still)... he said, "nice".

I get that this isn't his thing, and he could probably care less about little stuff like that, but... how about a "looks great, thanks for all of the hard work you are doing on this. While simultaneously working a full time job, cleaning the house regularly (yeah, I clean the house now, it is pretty amazing), cooking dinner all the time (at least the last two nights in a row), and putting my up with my punk ass".

Eh... a girl can dream can't she.

Whatevs.

I mean, I care about what everything looks like, because I don't want it to be hideous. BUT, do I really care to look across 8,000 websites to find the most perfect one? Nope. Not really. My main concern right now is that I found ones that I like, but I still can't justify spending the money on. Or else, I would have ordered them already.

But sometimes it stinks that I am the one that has to look at 8,000 websites so that we stay in budget. Although... while I am writing this... I am wondering if it more that I wish I could just buy whatever I wanted because it was perfect, and not because it was affordable. Hmm... we might have just made a break through.

Ahh... the joys of writing. I love how you think you are upset with your Fiance one minute and then you realize that you really just wish you weren't poor and could afford whatever you want.

Eh... it is easier to just be mad at him.... haha... I kid I kid.

Anywho.. I guess I just talked myself out of those Save the Dates too. Way to go me!

Anyone else have cashola issues with planning their wedding? Had champagne taste on a PBR (please tell me you guys know what I am talking about when I say PBR) budget? Anyone have some cost cutting ideas? I'm all ears.

Other than that. It is almost Friday. One more day(ish). Hope you all have a fabulous Thursday.

So What! Wednesday

I'm linking up with Shannon for another So What! Wednesday!

This week I am saying So What! if...

1. I stalked my mailbox for a good week for the arrival of my gift from my Scarfament partner. I am madly in love with getting mail (especially packages of presents) so I usually stalk them from the moment I order them. Ya know... just in case they come early! Haha. Anywho Amber sent me this adorable ornament and the most cozy scarf I own. Seriously, in love with it. Thanks Amber! (I hope you got my package too! I know I was late sending it! EEK!)

2. I am still heartbroken over these boots. They were like walking on clouds. But... I can't find them anywhere for less than an arm and a leg. Maybe I will stalk the website to see if they go on sale. That IS my MO after all.

3. I immediately went over to the website to see if they were on sale. And then maybe freaked out a bit to find out they only have 7's, 7.5's, 9's, and 10's left. Which means my days could be numbered. (And I totally missed out on a 50% off sale. Ug!)

4. I put scarves on my dog. (Sorry for the sideways... not sure what happened there). Let's just say there were adult beverages involved. AND it was only for a second.

5. Aforementioned Border Collie is regressing to his puppy days and stealing everything off the coffee table that he can reach. It is seriously getting annoying. He doesn't destroy anything. He just takes it. And then looks at you. And then runs around the coffee table so you look like an idiot trying to chase him. Well played Border Collie, well played.

6. THIS is like Christmas too me. Isn't it amazing? I am slightly ashamed (OK not really) to admit that they are all for me. It's my Scarfament present from Amber, my clothes that I ordered from Aeropostale (side note: pretty disappointed with their jeans now), and gourmet popcorn from my boss.

7. Sometimes I wonder if my lists help me be more organized... or if they really just make my OCD worse. I went food shopping last night and bought a shit ton of food (but my savy-ness saved me almost $40!!!) AND since I'm trying to be better at eating healthy, I need to be better at cooking (we all know I have no will-power when it comes to take-out). SO I decided to make a list of everything we have for dinner meals so I can keep track. And I did the same for lunch stuff. Because I totally need some other nonsense thing to obsess over.

8. I promised that I would be back at the gym this week and I haven't. Ug. I called for prices on Personal Training yesterday, (since I need someone else to be responsible for me, since I obviously can't) and no one ever called me back! I'm DYING to give you my money people! I WANT to purchase your insanely overprices PT sessions. CAAAALLLL MEEEEE!!!

9. I am having WAY too much fun decorating my sweatshirt for our Ugly Sweater Wine Night. This thing is HIDEOUS. I'm so proud. And I am nowhere near done. This thing is going to look like Tacky Christmas threw up all over it.

And that is all for today. We have all officially made it half way through the week. I'm proud of us.

They are talking some snow tonight, but with the temps the way they are I'm doubtful. BUT we all know Big A and I need that cheddah for the wedding, so everyone do your snow dances.

And now head on over to Shannon's blog and link up biatches!

Show Me Christmas: List

When Becky wrote about her ideas for Christmas-related link-ups I could hardly contain my excitement. Except for I got a little confused by the order and was super bummed that today was the first link up and I didn't have any pictures of my Christmas decorations with me. Sad.

But, as you can tell I am super awesome at reading directions because that isn't this week. This week Becky want us to show our Christmas list. Real or Fake. Now I don't know about you all, but I a have been SUPER good this year (if you have a comment against this statement, please keep them to yourselves. I think I have been wonderfully behaved this year! ). So, I took a little of my real Christmas list and mixed it with a little of my "If I could have ANYTHING I wanted" Christmas list. So here it is:

1. A Denali. I think these babies look SHARP. I'm not a huge fan of leather seats, but Big A says that they come with bum warmers (heated seats) so I'm all over it. I would like one that is pretty and sparkly like this one. 2. Umm... Coach. 'Nuff said. 3. I ask for a new pair of Puma sneakers every year. I can't remember the last time I had sneakers that weren't Puma. 4. OK... so I know that I got my Engagement ring this year...but a girl can NEVER have enough diamonds. 5. A new winter coat. One that is long enough to cover my chilly behind. I think these look pretty hawt. And don't worry, it is totally faux fur... homie don't mess with the real stuff. 6. Since both pairs of my Ugg boots met their demise last year, I am in desperate need of a new pair...or three. 8. Gift cards. Don't know what to get me? Gift cards are perfect. Victoria's Secret, Marshals, Coach (heh), wherever. This chick don't say no to gift cards. 8. Speaking of Victoria's Secret. They have some bomb ass PJ's. I need to be snuggly warm this winter. 9. Aaannnnd.... a house. Yeah... like anyone is going to buy me a house for XMas, but a girl can dream.

Well, that's about it. And I know it seems like a lot, but my birthday is coming up too! So you can buy some of the presents for that too! Yay! (Sidenote: T minus 14 days).

Sooo... what are YOU asking good 'ole Saint Nick for? Head on over to Becky's Blog and link up. OR you can go over to Aly's and link up there too!

OUR ENGAGEMENT PICTURES ARE IN!!!

Having an absolutely amazing photographer was at the top of my our priorities when we first started planning our wedding. We discussed that we were willing to cut costs in a lot of ways, but this was not one of them. When our wedding day has come and gone, our pictures will be our memories. Someday we will show our children our wedding photos and they can hear all about the day that Mommy and Daddy got married.

We knew that all to often, you get what you pay for. And that wasn't a risk we were willing to take. Jess was the photographer for L's wedding and I remember her being incredibly sweet and professional (and we all know I don't like new people... so that says a lot). When we were looking for a photographer, I asked L what she thought about Jess and she raved about it. I did a little digging, checking out her website and such. Then I told Big A that we needed to book her. ASAP. So, I went off and running (as I do when I tell Big A I want to do something and I see the slightest of head movements indicating yes... whether they actually were a yes...who knows. But he trusts me on the wedding stuff, so he would have said yes eventually.)

And as in most cases, I was 100% right. We LOVED Jess from the start. She is incredibly nice, professional, and she definitely knows what she is doing. Like I said before... if there are any Massachusetts Brides out there looking for a photographer check her out: Jessica Marie Photography

Last night, she e-mailed me to tell me that our pictures were ready. Of course, I was slowly dying on my couch, so I didn't know until this morning when I checked my e-mail. Which meant that I went a whole 12 hours with being able to see our pictures and I didn't even know it. Heartbreaking!

But... enough about my long sordid backstory. You want to see the goods. I didn't want to post all billion of them, so I picked my absolute favorites. Which, of course, wasn't easy.

Soooo... here they are! I already have plans to get them printed, ordered a special collage picture frame for them, will be making a photbook for them, and now I can get started on our Christmas Cards and Save the Dates. I think I am a bit too excited!

Enjoy!

Weekend Recap: Death by stomach

Mondays are such a gigantic bummer.Seriously. I can't handle them. I have wanted to call out of work for the past month of Mondays. Yay me.

This weekend was a good one though.

Friday Big A and I hung out with some friends and then had a nice dinner out alone. Our schedules and plans seem to be keeping us from actually spending time together so, we try and grab a few minutes alone when we can.

Saturday, I hung out with my mom and Pickles. We did the normal Saturday routine. Coffee, shopping, etc. I found my Yankee Swap gift for our wine night and bought the supplies for our Ugly Sweater Contest. (I'm already impressed at how hideous it is! hahaha).

Saturday night, Big A and I went over J$ & Ry's house for dinner. It was delicious. Ry & I played a crazy game of Jenga. I couldn't tell you the last time that I played that game. Let alone did well at it. But our game lasted crazy long... but then it went downhill.

Let this graph demonstrate:

Sooo... we called it a night.

Sunday, Big A and I woke up and headed for a delicious breakfast buffet at a restaurant down the street from us. We filled out plates and gorged on all of the fabulousness. Immediately, I felt sick. I probably should have taken this as a clue that it was going to be a bad stomach day (there's a list of issues, none serious, just none fun), but I did what any smart person would do.... I went to watch the football game, drank beer, and ate like crap.

Anyone want to guess how that turned out? Oy was I in so much pain. And the heartburn... forget it.

Needless to say I spent my night on the couch cursing my own existence rather than heading to my parent's house for family dinner (Sorry guys!).

I eventually was able to choke down some dinner, throw myself in the shower, and then crawl into bed where I inevitably passed out at some random time.

Today is a much better day, since I actually remembered to take my medication. Yaaay me. However, work blows, as work always blows on a Monday.

In exciting news, I just got an e-mail saying that our Engagement pictures are up! And OH EMMM GEEEE I am in love with them. I will hopefully get time to write a post out tonight and share them with you. EEEEK! Love them!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and your Monday's arent't sucking too much.

Today...Well...Today is a Good Day

Howdy Ya'll,

Sorry it is so late in the day. I am been busy actually being a valid contribution to society for once.

And apparently deciding that I say "howdy" and "ya'll" now.

Whatevs.

Anyway... I thought I would give you a little update on my wonderful career plans. You see, I was doing all of this planning without actually letting my boss in on anything. I kind of just wanted to be like "oh hey, for the past month I have been doing XYZ, can you approve more training & travel so I can get better at it and get a promotion and make a million dollars a year? Thanks!"

So, I spent the better part of yesterday attempting to get the software to download. But apparently Adobe hates me. So it wasn't done until this morning.

I was so excited when I came in this morning I eagerly entered the serial number and was immediately deflated.

Yeah... a co-worker of mine had the software. And apparently, Adobe wasn't born yesterday, because you can only have it downloaded on one computer. Therefore, the serial number can only be used once and then is no longer valid.

Awesome.

So, said co-worker told me that we should put the plan on ice for awhile. That my boss probably wasn't going to approve me buying $1400 worth of software that has nothing to do with my job description. (Along with the training & travel costs...).

But you all know me. I don't let go of things easy. I don't like the word know. I don't like when someone tells me I can't do something. And when I hear either... it just makes me want to do said "something" more.

It is a blessing and a curse. (Blessing when it comes to furthering my career. Curse when it is Big A telling me I am not strong enough and can not help him lift his plow. One word. OW! Eh... at least I tried).

So, I fessed up.

I e-mailed my boss. I told him the entire plan. I told him I needed the $1400 software. Around $200 for the training seminar. And whatever costs there were for me to travel to and from Columbus a couple of times.

And he LOVED it. He thought it was a great idea. He thought I would be good at it. And he told me to run with it.

So... I did what any smart person would do. I bought the software and signed up for the training before he could change his mind.

Then I actually had some things to do today that actually took up time and were pretty important. Some days I feel like if I didn't show up to work, no one would notice. I mean, I could probably just sit on my couch and answer e-mails from my Blackberry. I don't think anyone would be the wiser.

Not too good of a feeling in an economy like this. I need to show them that they NEED me. They can't live without me. And today... well... today was one of those days they needed me.

So, today is a good day. And tonight. I am going to spend some wonderful QT with my handsome Fiance who I have barely seen this week. Maybe even enjoy an adult beverage... or four.

As for all of you... I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I will be spending it binging for the last time before I start back at the gym on Monday (I promise... and someone kick my ass if I don't) and purchasing materials to make the most hideous Christmas sweater ever for our Ugly Sweater Party that is coming up.

Stay Classy San Diego.

It is Officially Birthday Month!!!

Happy Birthday Month to One and All! I'm so happy that I can share this with all of you. 19 days and counting. (If you need my address to send lots of presents, please feel free to e-mail me. Heh. I kid. I kid.) Oh the magic of my birthday... Can you feel the magic in the air?

Huh? Thought that was the Christmas Spirit? Nah... it's my birthday!

So, I have the office to myself today. I was disappointed for about .5 seconds. And then I realized that I could listen to Pandora and do whatever I want today. Tough life.

I did, however, have a meeting with one of the guy's I work with who is in Ohio. He's around my age, and lucky for him that fact alone makes me attach myself to him like a stage 5 clinger whenever we are in the same place. It also means that he gets daily IMs from me complaining about whatever tickles my fancy that day. Lucky for me, he hasn't told me to eff off yet. Yet, probably being the key word there.

Anywho... he spent 15 minutes trying to help me figure out why I couldn't access the Adobe Creative Suite even though I downloaded it 13,000 times. Turns out I downloaded it wrong. Awesome. My computer's main job in life is to make me look like an effing moron in front of this guys, because seriously... the icon wasn't there to download. Ever. But... here we are today and PING there it is. Eff me.

Whatever. The whole point of this is, that he gets all of these assignments to write and design things for the company and that's really not his thing. He likes different aspects of his job, (as all of us do), and would rather focus on that. So... what do I do? I take it upon myself to steal the programs that they bought for him and research training for it. I also have plans to head out to C-Bus for him to train me too. Of course, I haven't told my bosses any of this. I'm sure they will react with admiration of my go-to attitude.

Or they pretty much won't give a flying eff because they are never around anyway. So honestly, I could do most of my job sitting on the beach in Hawaii as long as they had Wi-Fi. (Now that's an idea)

I figure it will either help me advance in the company. Or pad my resume. Either way. I'm in the front row. I decided that I can't expect anyone to just hand me a position. I need to make my career be what I want it to be. And no one is going to do that for me. Plus... there aren't a whole lot of positions in this company that I completely love fully. And if I like them 95%... they are usually in another state or require over an hour drive to and from the office everyday. Eff that.

Soooo... I will mold myself into an invaluable asset to this company and create something all of my own. We all know that I don't always enjoy conforming into little tiny, well-described boxes. So... I will make my own box. Star-shaped. Yeah....

And... that's my plan. Coolio isn't it. At least I think so.

That's all for today my lovelies. Although we all know I post more than one non-sense post on days that I am alone in the office. It makes me feel like I have friends to talk to. :)

So What! Wednesday

I can't believe that it has been two weeks since my last So What! Wednesday post.

I'm surprised I wasn't going through withdrawals. Heh.

Anywho, I am linking up with the FABULOUS Shannon! Don't know her? Get to know her. Stat.

This week I'm saying So What! if...
  • I didn't leave anything out to cook for dinner. I don't want toooooo. And if Big A says no to ordering out, then I will quickly defrost something and pout cook dinner. (Although he did say that he owes me dinner for all of the stuff I have been doing around the house)
  • I don't want a Christmas tree this year. We have a small apartment. And getting a Christmas tree requires rearranging our living room into a crazy mess for the month or so that we have the tree. I suggested a small, fake, table top one. I was vetoed. (Which I technically don't think is fair since I am the one that has to water it, usually end up decorating it by myself, and have to clean up after it... bah humbug).
  • I started compiling addresses for our guest list last night and immediately wished that we didn't like that many people. It isn't due to the fact that I don't want them there. I do. I just don't want to do the work. Call me lazy, but whatevs.
  • I am so excited to start Birthday Month tomorrow. EEK! I'm actually excited about my birthday this year. I am most years, but I am may or may not have thrown a hissyfit turning 25. Whatevs. 26 is totally gonna be my year biatches! Woo!
  • Yes I am still 5 and count down the days until my birthday.
  • I have free Christmas cards from Shutterfly and I haven't looked to see what I want yet. I'm kind of waiting out our Engagement pictures a little bit. I want to see if we get them within the next week or so and then I will just figure out something. Just call me "Last Minute Gal"
  • I love the fact that I haven't started freezing my patootie off yet. But... this whole warm weather thing with Christmas light... uber weird. Cut the crap New England. And... I have a wedding to pay for. We need snow. Bad. Sorry people. It doesn't ever have to snow again (that's a lie... we will still need money later...) but I need a snowy winter. Pleaseandthankyou.
  • I was super excited to profess my love for the new Blogger (yes, I finally switched over and gave it a chance) but it is pissing me off today and now I want it to go away. Ug.
And that's all for today folks. Head on over to Shannon's blog and link up.
